Being located on the water gives you direct access to the local waterways and recreational activity areas.

Bring your own boat and equipment and enjoy any or all of the following:

If you don’t want to bring your own boat then hire an appropriate one from Swan Boat Hire, Maroochy Jet Ski Hire or Maroochy Sail Hire without the hassles of towing and maintenance.

FISHING

The Maroochy River is a popular fishing ground with the main catches being flathead, bream and whiting.  Fish from the bank or bring your boat. Try your hand at the increasingly popular kayak fishing.

The fisherperson who likes the odds stacked in their favour should try the Suncoast Barra Fishing Park, where you can catch a range of fish including Mangrove Jack, Estuary Cod, Bream , Trevally & many more.  They even have rods & reels available for hire.

 CRABBING

The mangrove banks of Eudlo & Petrie Creeks and the Maroochy River are popular locations for catching mud crabs. Throw your pot from the bank – you will be surprised at what you may find!

CANOEING, KAYAKING & ROWING

The upper reaches of Eudlo Creek, Petrie Creek and the Maroochy River are well worth exploring providing some excellent secluded picnic spots and long uninhabited stretches which are great for paddling. Visit the wetlands sanctuary.  This must be done in your own craft.  Our craft are for use within the bay only and cannot be taken into the main river system.

Baroon Pocket Dam / Lake Baroon. 2-4 hours. Suitable for all types of craft.
Lake MacDonald. 2-4 hours. Suitable for all types of craft.
Mountain Creek. 2-4 hours. Suitable for all types of craft.
Mooloola River Downstream. 2-3 hours. Suitable for all types of craft.
Mooloola River Upstream. 3-4 hours. Suitable for all types of craft.

The Maroochy River Canoe Trail scheduled to be officially opened in late 2009 will highlight 28km of natural waterways with toilet facilities, parking and signage. Keep an eye out in upstream paddle magazine for articles.

WATERSKIING & WAKEBOARDING

Waterski areas are located within 2 kms of the Maroochy River Resort & Bungalows. Bring your boat and gear and go for it! If you haven’t got the gear then try Suncoast Cable, the cable ski water park just 1.5kms up the road.  Coaching & equipment provided for wakeboard, ski & kneeboard. Beginners Welcome! Also check out Bar 'n Up Watersports  who offer beginners instruction on wakeboards, kneeboards & skis as well as tubing on the Maroochy River. Go for it.

JETSKIING

Take your own ski all the way to the river mouth or join a tour with Maroochy Jet ski Hire. Learn to ride a jet ski – take the kids for a spin! Fun for all the family.

Two waterski areas are located within 2 kms of the Maroochy River Bungalows. Bring your boat and gear and go for it! If you haven’t got the gear then try Ski & Skurf, the cable ski water park just 1.5kms up the road. Beginners Welcome!

BOAT AND JET SKI LICENCE Training & Testing

Australian Boating College run boating & first aid courses from Maroochy River Resort & Bungalows on a regular basis. Bookings essential. Get ready to get out on the water.  Make a weekend of it.
